Licensing and regulations in the travel industry - This event is fully booked
This event is fully booked.
Description
The future regulation of the travel industry remains a key industry topic but it is also an area which many in the trade find complex and difficult to understand.
Since the introduction of the ATOL Protection Charge (APC) and coupled with the economic downturn, travel companies are under enormous strain, operating in a market where only the fittest survive. What is the way forward?
ATOL protection or no protection? Bond providers are leaving the travel industry whilst the ones who remain are putting up the premium rate charges. What are the travel industry's options?
Questions also still remain over the definition of 'a package' and consequently, the level of protection for the traveller.
Is there a clear understanding of what is and isn't covered? Should consumers expect protection for all travel products, or should the message be 'buyer beware'? Are we anywhere near a regulatory 'level playing field' for operators, agents and airlines?
