Description

The Institute is committed to raising the profile and quality of marketing in Wales and the Canmol: Wales Marketing Awards are an opportunity to celebrate and promote the best of marketing in Wales. The third year of Canmol sees the introduction of two additional individual awards: Outstanding Contribution and New Marketer of the Year.

The awards are a celebration of excellence in ideas and execution. There is an emphasis on the fact that marketing extends beyond 'the four Ps' hence they are 'awards sans frontiers', without false categories, limits or restrictions.

The awards are open to everyone in Wales, from sole traders to multinational companies (see www.canmol.com for details).

Once again we are delighted to be working in close cooperation with our sponsors, The University of Wales, Newport (headline sponsor) and the Welsh Language Board. Details of additional supporters may be found on the Canmol website (please see link above). The glittering awards ceremony begins with a drinks reception, an ideal opportunity to network. We then have a three course dinner followed by the awards ceremony itself. This is an opportunity for you to learn 'what makes a winner' in the view of the judges.

Our MC for the evening is Bethan Rhys Roberts of BBC Radio Good Morning Wales and S4C presenter. Our after-dinner speaker this year is Chris Corcoran who earlier this year toured major venues across Wales with his first full length show What goes on Tour, Stays on Tour. Chris has also been busy writing the second series of the sitcom, Those That Can't with Greg Davies, for BBC Radio Wales.

On Saturday mornings he continues to co-host Rhod Gilbert's BBC Radio Wales Radio Show and has also previously fronted two documentary series: Nice Club, No Trouble and Chris Corcoran's Club Cultures.

Chris is regularly gigging at some of the best comedy clubs in the country such as The Banana Cabaret and The Glee Club and he supported Rob Brydon on his live tour in 2009.

2010 will also see him build on the sell-out success of his comedy theatre show Chris Corcoran's Committee Meeting in which he stars with up-and-coming Welsh comedian Elis James.

His television projects include Rob Brydon's Identity Crisis for BBC Four; Max Boyce's World Cup Journey, Big Welsh Joke and Little Welsh Joke and the comedy Six Nations Rugby trails and the entertainment show Be (where he has interviewed the likes of Cerys Matthews and Rufus Wainwright), Coal Stories, The Big Anthem Fawr, Stand Up if You're Welsh all for BBC Wales.

In 2004, Chris made his Edinburgh Festival debut when he performed his hilarious show Welsh Assembly. His mission was to double the population of Wales by the end of the festival, persuading audiences to change nationality. He failed but in so doing managed to get a four star review in The Sunday Times and The British Theatre Guide.

To close the event we have music from James Williams, from the 2008 series of X Factor. This will be a great night out and an opportunity to say 'thank you' to your marketing staff and to clients alike.

Registration is from 18:30; the event begins at 19:00 and finishes at 23:30.
