Description:

The number of laws affecting marketing increases each year. A breach of the law can be costly; not just a potential fine but perhaps more damaging is the loss of brand equity. More than ever, it's important for marketers to know their responsibilities and know what you can and cannot do when running campaigns.
An expert team of presenters will bring you up-to-date with major pieces of legislation which impact on marketers today. Andrew Jones has been a Partner at Cardiff Bay solicitors Hek Jones since its inception in September 2006, and prior to that trained and qualified in a top-5 Welsh law firm. Andrew specialises in Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution and in his presentations will be covering two main areas: common legal pitfalls for marketers; and recent legal developments which may have an impact on marketing. Andrew has experience in handling a wide caseload covering all aspects of civil procedure including intellectual property matters, professional negligence actions, breach of contract, construction disputes, debt and insolvency matters (both individual and corporate), cohabitation disputes relating to property, defamation matters, injunctions and other commercial disputes.
Jon Walters is a lawyer at Charles Russell, a top 50 full service national law firm with a specialist sports and marketing practice. Jon specialises in the sports and leisure sector, advising organisations such as Nike, The FA and Mercedes GP F1 Team on a wide range of commercial and regulatory issues, including in relation to the Olympics.
Mark Blayney Stuart is Head of Research at The Chartered Institute of Marketing and author of many of the Institute's research papers on legal issues including most recently, Ambush Marketing.
Mark will be bringing us up to date with how the law could impact on marketers in Wales. With Olympic events being held in Cardiff's Millennium Stadium, he will also explain the opportunities which may be presented to creative marketers.
Delegates are invited to an informal network session at the pub next door over lunch (not included in the event fee).
Registration is from 09:45; the event starts at 10:00 and finishes at 12:30. This is a CPD category 10 event.
