Top international marketing students recognised

20 November 2008

The Chartered Institute of Marketing recognised its top worldwide students at its graduation ceremony in Symphony Hall, Birmingham, earlier this month with a series of ten top awards. The ceremony, the largest in many years, was attended by the Randal Brew, Deputy Lord Mayor of Birmingham; Sir Paul Judge, The Institute’s president, and over 1,200 students and guests.

Awards were presented to the top student worldwide in each of the Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing modules and Professional Diploma in Marketing modules, and the eight winners were awarded their prizes from sponsoring organisations in front of over 500 fellow graduates.

Keith Fletcher, director of education at The Chartered Institute of Marketing said: “All the prize winners have demonstrated a very high standard in what are very difficult qualifications and I congratulate them for that. In these challenging times, marketing will be a key driver in business and all the students that graduated this year have shown that they recognise its importance to any business strategy.”

“In what promises to be a tough jobs market, our internationally recognised qualifications will help our graduates stand out from the crowd and make a real difference to the success of their organisations. Gaining these qualifications is a testament that graduates are serious about their role, and their career.”

Star student Dr Liz Ratcliffe, who works for Ordnance Survey, came top in two of the four Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing modules and was also awarded the top worldwide student accolade, ahead of 2,500 other students from around the globe.
