Frequently asked questions
To become a Chartered Marketer I need to submit two years consecutive CPD and hold the MCIM grade of membership. Do I send through two record cards to you together at the end of the two years?
No. It’s correct that we require a minimum of two years of consecutive CPD, however you must send your record card at the end of each CPD year prior to becoming a Chartered Marketer. Once you are a Chartered Marketer you need only send through your CPD record card if selected in the annual audit.
I’ve completed two years of consecutive CPD and would like to become a Chartered Marketer, but don’t hold the MCIM membership grade. How do I upgrade?
Visit
www.cim.co.uk/joincim and download the membership Upgrade form, following the instructions. A hard copy of the form is available on request by calling +44 (0)1628 427120 or emailing
membership@cim.co.uk
How will people know that I’ve achieved Chartered Marketer status?
When awarded Chartered Marketer status you will receive your badge and annual certificate, be able to use the designation of ‘Chartered Marketer’ on your CV and business cards, and you will be included in the Chartered Marketer directory at
www.cim.co.uk/cmdirectory
Is there an additional charge on my membership for being a Chartered Marketer?
There is an additional charge of £15 to the membership renewal fee. This will not be charged when you are awarded Chartered Marketer status, but will take effect from your next annual membership renewal.
I’m currently on maternity leave. Do I still need to submit my CPD record card?
Chartered Marketers on maternity leave who are selected on the annual audit do not need to send through their CPD record. By sending through evidence of your maternity leave (eg documentation from your company) you will be exempt from the audit.
Members on maternity leave that are not Chartered Marketers but still collecting CPD can apply for a ‘year out’. Again, The Institute would require documentation from your company to this effect. This will ensure that you do not have a break in your CPD record.
I work part time; can I submit fewer than 35 hours annually?
No. The minimum submission is 35 hours per year.
