Recognising the needs of busy marketers, CIM is developing a series of professional development awards that count towards Chartered Marketer status. These are short courses resulting in a professional award.
I made the move into new media while taking the CIM e-Marketing Award. I completed the Advanced Certificate and later the Postgraduate Diploma in 1999 and was looking for an area to complete my Continuing Professional Development to qualify for Chartered Marketer status.
Two months after starting the course I left my former role as marketing manager and began my current role promoting and developing new media branding in association with the regional press in the North West.
This is new territory for most traditional marketers, who have to combine existing strategic and tactical tools with the interactive nature of the media. For anyone contemplating a move into new media, the CIM e-Marketing Award provides in-depth information and the tools to analyse everything from buyer behaviour to web site content. I feel that we are currently seeing the iceberg effect of new media, two thirds is still out of reach, but it's exciting to be involved at any level.
I truly believe that the e-Marketing Award gave me the edge over the other candidates, it not only shows a willingness to embrace new ideas and technologies it also proves that you can't rely on the old school marketing techniques to get ahead in the new media world.

No deadline - enrol at any time depending on course start dates.
There is no formal entry criteria for the CIM E Marketing award and entry to the programme and assessment is at the discretion of approved study centres. A prior knowledge of marketing practice is needed.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is through a business-based management report on e-marketing and a short online examination held in a CIM Accredited Study Centre.
No exemptions are available for this award.
