The Wales Board approve an annual operational plan which aims to deliver member benefits in a Welsh context. The aims of the Wales Board are to:

  • Raise the status of marketing, marketers and CIM.
  • Deliver an engaging and quality event programme.
  • Maintain the success of Brolio/ThePitch and the Canmol: Wales Marketing Awards.
  • Work with other professional bodies with common aims, arranging joint events and sharing information.
  • Work with Universities and other educational institutions in Wales to assist marketers at the very beginning of their careers.
  • Ensure our members are equipped with the commercial, financial and operational know-how needed to be credible and influential.
  • Lobby the National Assembly for Wales and the Welsh Government regarding the value of vocational (professional) qualifications, the value of CPD and professional marketing standards.
  • Assist the Welsh Government to deliver marketing support.
  • Encourage networking with non-members by supporting other bodies' events where appropriate.
  • Actively engage with members and other marketers through comment and debate in Wales-specific LinkedIn groups and Twitter.
  • Recognise and exploit the value of bilingual Wales.
  • Our activities

The Canmol: Wales Marketing Awards are a highlight of the event calendar. The awards are a celebration of excellence in ideas and execution. There's an emphasis on the fact that marketing extends beyond "the 4 Ps" hence they're "awards sans frontièrs", without false categories, limits or restrictions.

We financially support a number of Student Communities (also known as Student Chapters) throughout Wales. These are student societies, supported by an academic mentor, for those who wish to pursue a career in marketing. Our annual Brolio/ThePitch competition also provides undergraduates with an opportunity to work on a ‘real life’ brief and has been very well received by both students and tutors. See the video of the 2012 competition, held in Cardiff Bay.
