What’s the duration of the courses?

If you choose to study with CIM Academy the timescales vary from 6 to 11 months depending on the chosen qualification.

If you wish to study with one of our other Accredited Study Centres you will need to contact your chosen centre directly for details of the course duration. Please use our study centre search to find the nearest centre for your course and study method.

How can I pay for the course?

How do I access the online portal?

CPD

To log in to your online CPD portal please use the 'My Development' link in the MyCIM area. This will take you to the CPD Engage website where you can log your CPD activity electronically. You must be a member and have logged in to your account to access this.

I’ve completed two years of consecutive CPD and would like to become a Chartered Marketer, but don’t hold the MCIM membership grade. How do I upgrade?

CPD

Simply download the membership upgrade form and follow the instructions. A hard copy of the form is available on request by contacting the membership services team.

How will people know that I’ve achieved Chartered Marketer status?

CPD

When awarded Chartered Marketer status you will receive your badge and annual certificate, be able to use the designation of ‘Chartered Marketer’ on your CV and business cards, and you will be included in the Chartered Marketer directory.

Do I start my CPD from the day I join as a member of The Institute?

CPD

The CPD year runs from 1 July to 30 June each year, therefore providing you are a member from 1 July you can claim from then. However, if for example you became a member in November then you can only claim from November to June.

Can I backdate or carry over CPD hours?

No. Backdated CPD hours cannot be claimed, nor can you carry over hours to the next CPD year.

How do I set up my online account?

General

To register, please select the Login/register text on the top-left-hand side of The Institute banner/header. The next page will allow you to specify whether you wish to register as a Guest, Studying or Professional Member of The Institute and allow you to fill in your relevant details.

If you are already a Member and wish to create your online account, you should select the "Already a member?" option. You will need your Membership Number and Authorisation Key in order to create your account.

What is an authorisation key and where do I get one?

Your authorisation key is unique to you and will be provided when you register as a guest or member of The Institute.

I’ve forgotten my authorisation key, how can I get a reminder?

Use our authorisation reminder facility. Please note your date of birth and email address must match the details we have on record for you. If you experience any problems please contact the membership services team to request your authorisation key and to update your record.

You can use our account reminder facility, your log in details will be sent to the email address we have on record for you. If you experience any problems please contact the membership services team to request your log in details and to update your record.

Once you are logged in you can amend your email, postal address and/or contact preferences by selecting the relevant tab in the “My details” area of your “My CIM” account.

Where is the link to Ebsco?

The link to Ebsco, the online collection of journals, is on the Online Journals and Reports page that is in the Marketing resources area. You will need to be logged in as a member to view the link.

My membership has lapsed but I still want to use the library resources, is this possible?

Access to the library resources is a member benefit. You can access the physical library for a charge of £40 plus VAT per day (£20 inc VAT for students) but the online resources are member only.

How can I get the full article from Cutting Edge?

This will depend on which journal it is from. If you contact the library we will easily be able to tell you whether it is available online or whether it is just available via the photocopying service.

I understand that the library has market research reports, how can I get a copy of one?

Resources

Due to copyright regulations we cannot copy the whole of a market research report but you can either come to the library to read the report or, alternatively, we can supply you with a copy of the contents pages and you can select a few pages for photocopying. With Mintel and MBD you can copy up to 5%, with Key Note you can copy up to 10%, however you can copy the whole of a Snapdata report. Researchers will help you with this process ensuring you get the best pages possible. Members also have access to a range of reports via our online journals and reports service.

In the first instance you can access our marketing law fact file. Additionally there is a link to ‘Legal Advice’ which will explain the service members have available to them. If you are a member you can then call the legal team for one-to-one advice.

Can I borrow anything from the library?

We do have a range of books available for loan and we do offer a postal service to members in the UK and Eire. If we post a book we make a small charge of £3.00 plus VAT per item to cover postage. We do not loan journals, market research reports or directories from the collection. For more information please view our library services.

I have ordered from CIM Direct (Bookshop). How long will it take for delivery?

We aim to dispatch all orders within 24 hours. Delivery times will depend on the method of postage selected. These are: Standard First Class Postage which normally takes 1-2 working days and Courier which is delivered within 24 hours on orders placed before 3pm. Please note courier deliveries apply on weekdays only and cannot be guaranteed at weekends.

How much are the delivery charges for books from CIM Direct?

The delivery charge for the Standard First Class postage within the UK is £3.00 for the first book and £1.50 for each subsequent book. The charge for a Courier delivery is £8.00.

Due to the wide variance in shipping fees our website does not process overseas orders. When I place an order through Worldpay on your website how does this appear on my credit card statement?

'WP' stands for WorldPay. The Institute has chosen this company as its online payment service provider (for Internet orders only). For details on WorldPay please visit www.worldpay.com. The entry will appear on your statement as either WP The Chartered Institute of Marketing or WP CIM Holdings Ltd with the amount taken for your order.

I have selected the buy button on the item I want, where do I go to complete the purchase?

You can see the number of items and total cost of your purchases in the top right hand corner of every page; here you can select the checkout link to complete the payment process. What is a Study Pack?

A study pack is a bundle of study materials, available for all modules at Professional Certificate, Professional Diploma and Professional Postgraduate Diploma levels. It includes the Official CIM Course book for the subject, the top essential core text for the subject, and the revision cards for the subject (revision cards are not available for the Professional Certificate). The study pack price also includes a 15% discount.

Where are the past papers, specimen answers and examiner reports?

These study resources are all located on the Learning Zone. The link to the Learning Zone can be found on the footer of every web page. Please log in with your username and password, go to the Learning Zone and click on the resources area. Then select “Qualification resources” from the right hand menu and then your relevant qualification, here you will find all the exam resources relevant to your qualification.

I have no fees outstanding, why can’t I see my exam results from last year? (As in all previous sessions)

Exam results currently only show the most recent assessment session. If you would like a copy of your results please contact the qualifications team.

When I go into book exams, it says there are currently no assessments for me to take.

This could be for a number of reasons:

  1. You currently do not have an Accredited study centre assigned to your record. Please contact the qualifications team so that they can update your record.
  2. You may not have a current exam centre assigned to your account. Please update your details, select the “Studying details” tab and choose an appropriate exam centre from the drop down list.

Can you confirm which subjects I am booked for?

Confirmation of your booking will follow by post within ten working days, however if it is past the closing date then please contact the qualifications team.

Why can’t I join online/register for Emarketing?

Your study centre needs to set up your online test as a result you will need to download the Application and Assessment entry forms and submit them to us prior to the published closing dates.

Yes, these are an important addition to the credibility of your professional development; however they do differ from course to course so please ask one of our Business Development Executives to confirm the number of CPD hours available for your chosen course.

Can I make changes to my training booking once confirmed?

Where are your training venues?

We run the majority of our courses at Moor Hall in Cookham, Berkshire and in London. We also have a network of venues around Great Britain which offer selected courses. The additional venues are located in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Edinburgh.
