Marketing standards
High standards of quality and integrity are vital to the success of the marketing profession. So maintaining, developing and setting standards within the industry is a key part of The Institute’s work.
All our members are expected to adhere to our Code of Professional Practice, which requires marketers to be honest, legally compliant and up-to-date. The Code can be viewed in our Royal Charter, Bye-laws and General Regulations 2008 document.
Drawn up after extensive research with employers and leading academics, our Professional Marketing Standards clearly show the skills expected of marketing professionals at every stage of their career. These standards are designed to help both marketers and their employers assess competencies and training needs.
Sector Qualification Reform
We are currently working with the United Kingdom Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) on their Sector Qualification Reform Programme (SQRP) which aims to change the landscape of vocational
qualifications in the UK.
The aim of this programme is to ensure that the qualifications and other learning programmes available across the UK are more effective in equipping people with the skills that employers want and that learners need to secure and maintain employment.
CIM has completed the first stage of this project which is to create a Sector Qualification Strategy (SQS) for the marketing and sales profession which:
-
reviews current qualifications and other learning provision for each profession
-
highlights the needs of the sector
-
sets out the sector’s vision for the future in relation to qualifications and other learning provision
We are now looking for professionals within marketing and sales to review these summaries and fill in a short questionnaire. Please download the relevant SQS summary on the right hand side and give us your thoughts.
