Matthew Neilson

Matthew Neilson, FCIM, Chartered Marketer is the Global Sustainability Manager for Unilever and was elected Vice-Chair in April 2011; he is also the Chair of the Learning and Development Group.
Having started his marketing career in Royal Mail and holding senior positions focused on media development, product innovation and sustainability, Matthew worked to raise standards in direct marketing education, drove innovation in direct mail and led Royal Mail's sales communications and sustainability activity. He also delivered a new service called Sustainable Mail in response to consumer and customer demands for more environmentally friendly direct mail.
Matthew joined Unilever in June 2011 and is now responsible for delivering the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan across all areas of home and personal care, with an emphasis on driving product innovation and consumer behaviour change.
As a trustee Matthew is keen to promote higher levels of professionalism in marketing and champion the role marketing can play in achieving a sustainable future.
