Northwest Midlands
NorWest Midlands Branch is based in the city of Wolverhampton where most of the meetings are held in the prestigious conference facilities of the Molinuex football ground which is easily located just off the city centre.
The branch was founded in 1958 as South Staffordshire Branch but following the redrawing of boundaries when the West Midlands County was created the name was changed to be more relevant to the area covered. The branch covers the Black Country Boroughs of Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley and Sandwell plus South and East Staffordshire, South Shropshire and North Worcestershire.
Within the Black Country Boroughs there are a few large companies in construction, aerospace engineering, general engineering and financial services. There are some large employers in and around Telford too. The area has many small and medium sized companies in a wide variety of industries ranging from specialist engineering and IT to rural trades. As the area is well served by motorways there are a number of logistics specialists based here. High tech. industries are being encouraged to develop in the M54 corridor and the Science Parks. The University of Wolverhampton has set up special units to help firms develop world class manufacturing and technology in the area as well as the wider West Midlands conurbation.
