CIM third party hyperlink policy
The following policy covers all web sites owned and developed by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
External hyperlink approval should be passed onto the Marketing team for acceptance and assessment. All links will open up into a separate window and not within the frameset of the CIM sites. This is to prevent any inference that CIM approves or has any business or ownership rights relating to the third party site.
Free text links
Free text links will be given to organisations that are mentioned in copy provided by either third parties (commissioned writers) or originally generated by CIM.
If a third party has supplied original free content a link will automatically be given to the provider/owner of the content, once the content has been editorially approved.
Logo links
On some occasions a logo hyperlink will be accepted, again this will need to be approved by the Marketing team. If the logo is used on the site, written permission must be sought from the third party. This will protect CIM in terms of breach of copyright preventing any ambiguity between both parties. A written copy of express permission logo usage approval (letter or email accepted), detailing the usage rights of their logo, must be forwarded on to the Marketing team for reference purposes.
Denied links
No links will be given to sites that include or promote the following:
Pornography
Terrorism
Racism
Political views
Any criminal activity
Direct Competitors to CIM Qualifications, Training, Membership and the Bookshop.
CIM will portray a neutral stance on any views; hence no form of political alliance will be portrayed on any of the sites under its control. The information collected will be used for reference and CIM web communication only. The data will not be submitted for marketing campaigns and distributed outside of CIM.
Hyperlink disclaimer notice - all third parties will need to be made aware of the following:
Please note that that hyperlinks are given for information purposes only and there is no inferred recommendation as to the companies listed on the CIM sites. CIM does not take any responsibility for the quality of service these organisations provide.
CIM will reserve the right to remove any hyperlinks at any time without prior consultation with third parties.

Additional terms for CIM Academy delegates
CIM Academy qualifications are internationally recognised and as a result of this they are required to abide by rules laid down by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA). To this aim delegate's attendance and pass grades for the relevant assignments are monitored as required.
1. Once an application is received and validated at the correct level, withdrawal from a qualificationat any time prior to commencement, or during the course, will result in a 100% charge being levied. Any outstanding invoices will require immediate payment, with no refunds or credits being given.
2. All delegates must attend each module (as booked), and the number of days as laid down in the syllabus for their respective programme. It is not possible for a delegate to join part way through a programme.
3. In the event of a delegate leaving the programme (for whatever reason), no substitute or replacement delegate can join the programme in their place. In this event no refund or part refund can be given.
4. As they are qualifications the QCA insist that, with the exception of extenuating circumstances (e.g. serious illness, bereavement etc), each module should be attended in sequence. They do not accept reasons such as 'pressure of work' as a legitimate cause to change attendance dates and no refund or part refund will be given, administration charges will be payable.
5. If such extenuating reasons do arise it is the responsibility of the delegate/delegate's organisation to inform us in writing providing evidence of the circumstances, at the earliest opportunity,
6. Should there be a requirement for a delegate to retake an examination or module or submit an alternative assignment, administrative charges will be payable. This also extends to further charges that may be levied by CIM's online partners for access to the online learning tools.
