    9:00 AM - Truro

A new EU data protection framework has just recently been adopted after four years of negotiation, driven by the emergence of new technologies and the frustration of organisations across the EU at the increasing lack of harmonisation across borders, despite data flowing increasingly without boundaries.

Following Brexit – where will this leave the UK’s data regulations? Should we be preparing for the May 2018 implementation deadline or throwing caution to the wind?

Alexandra Leonidou, Senior Associate at Foot Anstey LLP, one of the fastest growing law firms in the UK, will provide an insight into the new game-changing data protection regulations with a focus on marketing disciplines. Ultimately, we all want to maximise the potential of our data, whilst ensuring that our marketing practice stays on the right side of the law – but should we be making preparations now or should we just wait and see?

Alex is a member of Foot Anstey's commercial team and specialises in privacy and data protection, advertising, digital media, and technology and advertising related commercial contracts. Alex worked in-house in the European legal team at Warner Bros. Entertainment for nearly six years, advising on large scale, global privacy projects including data protection compliance audits, HR/IT system roll-outs, group data processing arrangements and international data transfers. Alex was also involved in the development of privacy related strategy and policy as well as day-to-day data protection matters such as subject access requests, consumer queries and employee related matters.
Alex’s experience at Warner Bros. Entertainment also included advising on cutting edge marketing and advertising activities, including programmatic advertising practices, social media, consumer-facing promotions and competitions and the development and on-going management of websites and online clubs and loyalty programmes. Further, Alex has worked on a broad range of business critical IT and marketing related commercial contracts such as software and platform licenses, hosting services contracts (including cloud computing) and advertising services agreements.
