CIM’s prestigious Marketing Excellence Awards were developed to recognise and reward brilliance in the field of marketing. These awards are a fantastic way to raise awareness of the creativity and originality delivered by marketers who are at the forefront of our profession, as well as recognise and celebrate the achievements of marketing teams and individuals alike.
The awards are a chance to showcase and celebrate the successes of the last 12 months with your team, and provide an exciting opportunity to network with some of the marketing industry’s best thought leaders at a fantastic celebratory night in the heart of London.

Misa Von Tunzelman - Lead Director for Marketing and Communications, JLL
Misa is a member of the UK firm's Executive Committee and leads the business' progressive Diversity and Inclusion agenda, a focus she sees as vital to the health of any brand operating today.
Misa is passionate about property and the difference the built environment can make on the prosperity of businesses, communities and whole countries; a message that she and her colleagues at JLL are on a mission to get out to UK plc.
Having seen first-hand the difference a strong Marketing approach can have on the fortunes of professional services firms, Misa enjoys seeing new ideas and thinking brought to life in this sometimes staid sector. She is a keen supporter of the CIM having been a member since 1997 and chartered since 2009.
Eda Colbert - Global Head of Brand and Marketing, British Council
Eda is currently focusing on brand and corporate identity which is high up on the Organisation’s strategic agenda. Since she was appointed in 2009 Eda has worked tirelessly in her role to demonstrate the value of marketing capability as a core function in the organisation, which has offices in 110 countries around the world. Eda has over 25 years marketing experience in wide and varied organisations including manufacturing, retail, and working with the Industrial Development Authority in her native Ireland. Since moving to the UK Eda has continued her career in consultancy and corporate marketing. Eda has also been a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Bath Spa University where her research interest included enterprise development in developing countries where the dependencies were on non-diverse agro based economies. Prior to joining the British Council Eda was with Accenture, where she spent eight years culminating as European Marketing Director for Retail and Consumer Goods. Eda has also served as a trustee of a charity, a Faculty board member and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Sholto Douglas-Home - CMO, Hays PLC
Sholto sits on the Management Board of Hays, a FTSE 250 recruitment services firm operating with 9,200 employees in 240 offices across 33 countries. Prior to Hays, Sholto was Global Head of Brand & Marketing Communications at Reuters (now Thomson Reuters). Between 1993 and 2001, Sholto worked at BT Plc. after a ten year career in advertising.
Sholto graduated in Management Sciences from Warwick Business School. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing; a former Chair of the Marketing Group of Great Britain; and a long-standing member of ISBA’s Council. Sholto is also a freelance restaurant critic, and has been Editor of Google’s London Zagat Restaurant Survey since 1996.
Suki Thompson - Founder, Oystercatchers
Suki is one of the two original Founders of Oystercatchers. A management consultancy specialising in Marketing. She started her career agency side with companies such as DDB, WWAV, Publicis, TBWA and Y&R in London and Asia before she founded the Haystack consultancy, which created a framework for the modern pitch intermediary.
Suki has led the development of partnership evaluation for Oystercatchers and is the driving force behind the proprietary evaluation model Optimise™ and The Oystercatchers Training Academy. She leads several of the strategic partnerships managed by Oystercatchers including Barclays, McDonald's, Sainsbury's, British Airways, Avis Budget Group and Cinema UK.
As well as her work at Oystercatchers, Suki has been the Chairman of The Marketing Society, a member of WACL (Women in Advertising & Communications London) and is on The Board of Trustees for Macmillan Cancer Support and Touraid. She is a regular contributor to the national and marketing press and speaker at industry conferences.
In 2012 Suki was made a Freeman of the City of London and given an honoury Doctorate by Coventry University for her services to International Business. Suki loves Triathlons, owns her own Gin Company called Bunker Gin and has two children, Jazmyn and Sam.
Allister Frost - Founder & Managing Consultant, Wild Orange Media
Allister Frost, founder of Wild Orange Media, helps people in organisations do better business through fast-changing and emerging marketing channels. Voted UK Digital Marketing Personality of the Year, Allister is well-known for his high energy presentations and public speaking. He is a specialist in emerging and future online marketing techniques and works across many industries helping marketers stay abreast of technological advances to develop future-ready capabilities. While Head of Digital Marketing Strategy at Microsoft he gave fresh impetus to brands including Xbox, Windows and Office by making them more accessible to customers through real-time communication channels. A Chartered Marketer, he regularly coaches and trains organisations around the world on a range of topics including the future of marketing, the secret psychology of inbound marketing, behavioural economics and social business re-organisation. During a marketing career spanning more than two decades he has also managed well-loved brands including Andrex, Huggies and Kleenex and delivered global launch campaigns for Windows and “I’M A PC”. As a respected industry thought-leader, Allister now comments on the changing communications landscape and explains how organisations must ready themselves for the post-broadcast, pay-to-play era by seeking out fresh commercial opportunities in our digitally-connected world. Allister is also the founder of Internet Safety School, a community initiative designed to help parents understand the digital world better so they can help keep their children safe online. Jez Frampton - Group CEO, Interbrand
Jez Frampton is the Group Chief Executive at Interbrand. He leads the Interbrand network, shaping strategy and growth for its 40 worldwide offices and enhancing its brand value generating services to a prestigious roster of clients.
Jez was named the global head of Interbrand in early 2006, having previously been the CEO of Interbrand in the United Kingdom. In his fifteen years with Interbrand, Jez has worked alongside clients all across the world, and in virtually every sector, to create and manage brands.
Frequently invited to comment by the BBC, CNN, Fox, CNBC and Bloomberg, on the importance of brands as business assets, Jez has also authored many articles on the subject. Jez is a member of the Marketing Society, the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the Market Research Society, the Design Business Association and the Institute of Directors.
Prior to Interbrand Jez worked in both the United States and UK for the notable agencies Saatchi & Saatchi and DMB&B.

Gordon Nardini - Senior Director of Marketing, Travelport
In this role Gordon has overall responsibility for marketing, driving the strategy, agile marketing practices and execution of Corporate, Customer and Digital activities across the 170 countries in which Travelport operates. Gordon joined Travelport in July 2013 as Senior Director, Global Marketing Communications.
He is a seasoned marketing professional with over 15 years’ experience. Gordon has held a number of managerial roles across a diverse range of industries including telecommunications, retail, e-commerce, technology and travel & tourism.
Prior to joining Travelport, Gordon was Senior Director, Operational Marketing with Carlson Wagonlit Travel in the UK and before that worked for the Amadeus IT Group in Madrid, Spain where he held various senior marketing roles. Before that he worked for Carphone Warehouse as Head of Retail and Product Marketing and he has also held a number of marketing roles at Vodafone and Newbridge Networks.
Gordon holds a BA (Hons) in Marketing and Italian from the University of South Wales. Gordon is an active member of the CIM (MCIM) and has been awarded Chartered Marketer status as well as being Pragmatic Marketing Certified.
Nick Hughes - Director of Marketing & Communications, SEGRO
Nick Hughes is the Director of Marketing and Communications at SEGRO, the FTSE250 listed Property Company. He joined SEGRO from the global real estate firm Knight Frank, where he was Global Head of Marketing and Communications. He has more than 20 years’ experience including working as an independent consultant and taking design agency Kugel (now Siren) from start-up to a top 30 practice with a multi-million pound turnover. He has an MBA from Cass Business School and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. He has judged the Property Marketing Awards for the last two years and is judging the Drum Marketing Awards in 2015.
Bonnie Pelosi - Brand, Marketing & Communications (BMC) Director for UK&I
She has been with EY since October 2012 when she joined as Head of Corporate Profile and Digital Marketing. As part of the UK&I Marketing Leadership Team she was responsible for the brand and some of our major brand and marketing programmes: Arts, Entrepreneur of the Year, Alumni, EY ITEM Club, Commonwealth Games, Ryder Cup and 3rd party associations (CBI, UKTI, London First, British American).
Prior to EY, Bonnie was at Accenture where she was head of global consumer marketing and EMEIA healthcare marketing lead. Before this she held lead marketing roles at brand and design agency, Enterprise IG (part of WPP), in both London and San Francisco. She started her marketing career at Thomson Financial and Simmons & Simmons.
Emma Jones - Enterprise Nation
Following a degree in Law and Japanese, Emma joined international accounting firm Arthur Andersen, where she worked in London, Leeds and Manchester offices and set up the firm’s Inward Investment practice that attracted overseas companies to locate in the UK. In 2000, bitten by the dot.com bug, Emma left the firm to start her first business, Techlocate – after 15 months, the company was successfully sold to Tenon plc.
The experience of starting, growing and selling a business from a home base gave Emma the idea for Enterprise Nation which was launched in 2006 as the home business website. The company has since expanded to become a small business community of over 75,000 people who benefit from business books, events and funding: online, in print and in person. Enterprise Nation also presents a campaigning voice to government and the media on behalf of its members.
Paul Hitchens (MCIM, Chartered Marketer) - Director, Verve Brand Consultancy
Paul is the author of two best selling business books on branding: ‘Successful Brand Management – In a Week’ and ‘Create the Perfect Brand’ (published by Hodder Education). He is a founding partner and Director of Verve Brand Consultancy with over 25 years experience in the Creative Industries. Paul has worked in Advertising, Branding, Design and Marketing and has helped organisations of all types and sizes to realise their brand’s potential through Strategic Consultancy, Creative Services, Seminars and Training Workshops. He is a Chartered Marketer and Course Director for the CIM and regularly provides industry comment for television, radio, national and trade press. Paul has appeared on BBC, ITV and Channel 5 News.
Karen Richardson-Fowles - Head of Intermediary Marketing, Prudential UK
As Head of Intermediary Marketing at Prudential UK, Karen leads the distribution marketing team, developing core sales and marketing strategies for Prudential’s broad range of intermediary sold propositions.
Her understanding of the financial services market place together with her thorough marketing knowledge and her close alignment with the Sales Leadership Team has meant she has been instrumental in bringing the sales and marketing functions of the organisation closer together.
An all-round marketing professional, Karen has been with Prudential for sixteen years. Previously Head of Life and Pensions Marketing, she has also led the Corporate Pensions Marketing channel having also had hands – on sales experience. She has also worked in Brand, PR and Direct Marketing.
Karen previously worked as a campaign manager with M&G.
Karen graduated from Portsmouth University with a BA Hons in Social History and is a CIM Marketer.
Simon Hall - Head of Marketing UK, Dell
Simon Hall is the UK Country Head of Marketing for Dell, where he is responsible for driving marketing strategies, marketing programs, market communications and channel plans to reach consumers, small & medium businesses, public and large enterprises customers.
Before becoming UK Country Head of Marketing for Dell , Simon served as Head of Marketing for UK & Ireland for Consumer, Small and Medium business, leading to success a team of highly skilled marketers.
He also spent multiple years in Italy; Germany and amassed around 18-20 years’ experience from other large organisations including Dell, Microsoft, Acer, Toshiba and Philips Simon holds a dual degree in European business from the University of Sunderland in the UK, and a BA in International trade & Business from the University of Mannheim in Germany.
Freddie Hospedales (Chartered Marketer) - Global Head of Marketing, ERM
Freddie is Global Head of Marketing for ERM, the world’s leading sustainability consultancy operating from 140 offices in over 40 countries. In this role he leads the firm’s global marketing agenda.
Freddie has more than 20 years experience working in strategic marketing, marketing communications and sales roles in financial services, construction and advertising. He joined ERM direct from his role as a Director at the International Centre for Financial Regulation where he was responsible for key stakeholder engagement. Prior to this, Freddie was Head of Marketing and Communications for Global Financial Services at KPMG. Here he sat on the Global Leadership Team and was responsible for all financial services marketing activity that was used globally by KPMG member firms.
Radha Davies is a highly driven, passionate leader with excellent functional marketing and leadership skills. She has over 18 years experience in blue chip companies such as Diageo & GSK as well as entrepreneurial start ups & private equity owned businesses such as Ella’s Kitchen and Ideal Standard bathrooms. Radha has a proven track record of successfully step changing brand growth by leveraging consumer insights to develop & implement creative and powerful brand & communications strategies.
She has exceeded annual growth targets in every role and demonstrated strong experience of working on premium brands such as Pimms, Guiness Draught, Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff & Baileys, Ribena, John Frieda Haircare and more recently taken on the challenges of growing mainstream brands such as Ideal Standard Bathrooms and the Post Office.
Having worked in the UK, South Africa and more broadly across the whole of the African continent – Radha understands and adapts to new environments quickly, identifying the areas of focus and delivering breakthrough outcomes.
Stephen Chater – General Manager, Product and Market Planning for BMW (BMW Group).
Stephen has over 30 years’ experience with premium brands in the automotive sector. Within BMW Group, he has held numerous senior management roles in addition to a wide breadth of commercial roles across all brands.
Most notably, he spent five years as the UK Head of Learning and Development at the BMW Group Academy, where he launched the BMW Group training facility and achieved worldwide recognition for the training. He then took over as Head of Sales Development and Network CRM, managing tactical sales and marketing campaigns, BMW and MINI network CRM processes, and the retailer sales communication and recognition programmes.
More recently, as Head of Fleet and Business sales and marketing, he held overall responsibility for the delivery of all corporate, direct and special sales achievement for BMW, MINI and BMW i, leading to recognition of BMW Group as a leading fleet OEM.
Stephen is currently General Manager, Product and Market Planning for BMW. In his current role he is responsible for BMW, BMW M, BMW Individual and BMW I (electric vehicles) Product and Pricing Strategy, Product Management and Marketing and Market Planning. He has been responsible for leading an unprecedented number of new product launches for the group in the past few years, including the iconic BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car and BMW i3 electric vehicle.
Stephen is also passionate about supporting the industry. He is a Director and Deputy Chairman of the not-for-profit organisation, Institute of Car Fleet Management.
Amanda Jobbins - CMO, EMC
Amanda is a renowned Chief Marketing Officer (“CMO”) in the technology industry having held senior leadership positions at The Sage Group plc where she was until recently the group CMO, Cisco Systems, Symantec and IBM in both Europe and the USA. In 2014 Amanda joined the board of Stormagic Limited, a storage virtualisation software provider. Amanda recently became VP EMEA Marketing of EMC Europe Limited, a data storage provider. In 2011 Amanda was named the International Marketer of the Year by the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Amanda joined the Board as a Non-Executive Director in March 2015. She is a member of the Audit Committee
Paul McWhinnie - Founder, Renaissance Thinking Limited
In 2004 Paul McWhinnie established Renaissance Thinking, a management consultancy that specialises in Innovation and Business Transformation, providing organisations with consultancy, workshop and training services. Renaissance’s key aim is to help companies achieve growth through innovation. Their experts collaborate with clients to help develop game changing strategies, accelerate innovation projects and build an in-house capability and culture of innovation.
Paul advises senior management teams on their innovation activities and capability within FTSE 100 companies in digital and technology, consumer goods, media and entertainment, food and beverages, transportation and construction, financial services, pharma and public sectors.
He has designed and delivered assignments across a variety of industries, from different world perspectives including UK, Europe, USA, Asia and Australia.
These assignments have allowed him to develop a keen insight into innovation best practice across industries, companies and countries.
Paul holds a BA (Hons) in Industrial Design, an MBA and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Eva Applebaum - Digital Talent @ Work
Eva is a partner at the start-up Digital Talent @ Work, with expertise in digital marketing transformation. Until recently she worked at the BBC where she launched the Webby award winning BBC Earth website and set up the BBC's Digital Marketing Lab. She is also the co-founder of NINE, a social enterprise that supports women in digital.
Eva has 18 years international experience working in the digital professional, including Asia-Pacific Director of Social Media and Digital Production at GroupM in Singapore, and the first Digital Director at Amnesty International. She is a frequent keynote and panel speaker. In 2014 she was named one of Marketing Week’s Vision100 – a list of visionary UK marketers. In 2015 she was named on BIMA's Hot100, a list of the UK's top digital professionals.
Daniel Rowles - Digital Marketing Trainer and Consultant, Target Internet
Daniel has been working in Digital Marketing for the past 16 years, with extensive experience working both client side and within the agency environment. He is a Course Director for the CIM, a certified Google Squared trainer and an associate professor at Imperial College and Cranfield School of Management.
Daniel has helped organisations of all types to use digital marketing effectively, working with a wide range of businesses, from startups through to global clients like the BBC, Sony, Tesco, Vodafone, Mercedes, L’Oreal and Warner Bros.
He is the voice of the Digital Marketing Podcast, a worldwide top-ten business podcast in iTunes, Managing Director of TargetInternet.com and an award winning author for publisher Kogan Page (Mobile Marketing 2013, Digital Branding 2014).
Daniel’s training and consultancy is backed up by many years of real world experience planning and implementing digital campaigns. Daniel prides himself on his practical and hands-on training content, and brings best practice from many years working for a broad range of International clients across the full range of digital marketing techniques.
His career has covered both the technical and business aspects of digital marketing, meaning he is able to bridge the gap between the two and make best use of the tools and technology available.
Tom Pepper - Director, Marketing Solutions, LinkedIn UK & International
A leader in the marketing field with over a decade of experience, Tom joined LinkedIn in 2015 as a Director in the marketing solutions business. He leads a team to help Financial Services, Energy, Government, Education and Professional Services marketers identify, target and engage with the world’s professionals.
Before joining LinkedIn, Tom was UK Managing Director at Vibrant Media and in past has held roles at Advertising.com, IPC Media and Haymarket Publications.
Tom holds a degree in politics & economics from the University of East Anglia, and is a well-regarded speaker on the latest trends in digital advertising.
Tom is married to a food writer and broadcaster who has published four cookery books and they have a one year old son named Bertie.
Vicki Davis - Head of Film Marketing, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment
As Head of Film Marketing at Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, highlights of my day job over the past year have included a fibreglass mososaurus coming out of the Thames and giant cardboard dinsoaurs in Tesco stores for Jurassic World, a highly engaging dubsmash promotion for Pitch Perfect 2 , putting Christian Grey on the side of the IMAX Cinema in Waterloo, letting the Minion costume characters run wild in shopping centres and reconnecting with the grunge audience for the Cobain: Montage of Heck documentary. I’m really proud to work with an innovative and inspiring team, whose commit to entertaining the consumer is second to none. Before I worked at Universal, I held various Film and Music marketing roles at Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Virgin Megastores.
Rob Strachan Bio – VP Global Marketing, Regus
Rob has a wealth of experience in developing and implementing Global brands, and has recently completed a brand refresh of Regus, the Global workspace provider. Rob spent four years as UK Marketing director at Regus, where he was instrumental in growing the business from 65 to over 400 locations.
He started his career in Compass Group, the Global market leader in contract catering, where he spent six years, before joining Big Yellow, the UK's best known storage group. At each stage he has implemented brand re-launches which have achieved double digit growth.
Ash Roots - Director of Digital, Direct Line Group
Ash Roots has been Director of Digital at Direct Line Group for over two years and in this time has built an in-house digital services team, and led the successful launches of new apps and consumer websites.
Ash joined DLG from Three UK, where he was Head of Online. He also held a number of other positions at Three UK including Head of Production and Content Delivery Manager.
Ash graduated from the De Montfort University, Leicester with a 1st Class Bachelor's degree in Multimedia Design and has been driving digital innovation across media, telecom and finance industries for 15 years.
