Andrew’s professional experience is in marketing, communications, leadership and change management. He has worked across a range of sectors including passenger transport, professional services, membership bodies and not-for-profit. He is a Chartered Marketer and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
He specialises in working with other professionals to grow their marketing, communications and client management skills.
Until 2014 Andrew was Chair of the Chartered Institute of Marketing; he is currently Chair of the European Marketing Confederation, an association of marketing professional bodies from across Europe. He is a member of the advisory board of the World Marketing Summit and holds a Scottish Government non-executive role at Registers of Scotland. Closer to home, he is Chair of the Board at Queen’s Hall Arts in Hexham and a member of the advisory panel of the North East Fund for the Arts.
Earlier he worked in the transport sector, including at Virgin Group as the first Commercial Director of its rail business. He led three teams through the transition from state to private ownership, in the privatisation of Britain’s rail network.
As an adviser to a range of organisations, Andrew brings his wide-ranging marketing and communications experience to bear. He has recently completed a long term assignment with a leading property consultancy to develop its business and marketing strategies. He has worked with professional membership bodies to review their business structures and is currently working with another to develop a strategic communications plan. In addition, he has advised the Taiwanese Ministry of Economic Affairs on marketing and its export programme.
Andrew lives in rural Northumberland, but can usually be found on a train or a plane somewhere in Europe or beyond.

David has more than 20 years of marketing and brand management experience under his belt, and has previously worked with a wide range of global brands such as Mars, Gillett, Silk Cut, British Airways and Mirror Group (UK).
Marketing Director, Lookers
A highly experienced international marketing and branding professional with a proven track record of achieving real results, locally and internationally. Heike is Group Marketing Director at Lookers plc, one of the largest motor retail groups in the UK. Previously she worked with brands such as adidas, Callaway Golf and the London based brand agency 20.20 to turn business growth ideas and marketing strategies into market reality and delivering profitable results to the bottom line, on time, on budget and on brand.
Heike holds an MA in International Marketing (Distinction) from the School of Business, Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, a Postgraduate Degree in European Business and Marketing from the University of Greenwich, London and graduated with a BA in Economics. She is a German national and has worked in the UK, Europe, the US and Japan.
Charlie Nettle MCIM Chartered Marketer

After completing a degree in Business, Charlie went on to complete his masters, specialising in marketing communications. He has been in senior marketing roles since 2000 and began his career in the IT and education sector before joining the North East Chamber of Commerce in 2007.
As NECC approaches its 200th anniversary in 2015, Charlie is making it his personal mission to ensure that businesses in the region have a better understanding of the Chambers of Commerce and the role they play for businesses. As part of this, Charlie implemented a segmented membership model in 2011, which was recognised nationally by the British Chambers of Commerce in 2012 when Charlie was presented with the national award for Excellence in Membership Services. Other Chambers around the UK are now replicating this model.
He is also a non-Executive Director for the mental health charity, Middlesbrough and Stockton MIND.
B2B Managing Director, Tangerine
For nearly 20 years Sam has worked as a communications consultant to national and international businesses, helping them to develop creative strategies that transform brands and shape perceptions, thinking and behaviour. In 2011, she joined Tangerine to launch its B2B division, which has become one of the UK’s top B2B communications consultancies.
Sam has worked with huge multi-national organisations, challenger brands and start-ups across multiple sectors, from the built environment to professional services, to re-position brands, devise global award-winning campaigns, embed internal cultures, tackle deep-rooted perception problems and run teams across the globe. As well as playing a pivotal role in driving digital change in B2B communications, she has pioneered new ways for B2B brands to engage millennials and specialises in using audience and market insight to show the real business benefit of brand and communication strategies.
Alongside her role as B2B MD and board director at Tangerine, Sam is also a director of The Juice Academy, the UK’s first industry-led social media apprenticeship programme, which has trained over 150 young people since 2013.

Allison is an experienced Executive and Non-Executive Director. For 24 years she worked for Northern Rock Plc building her career in Marketing, Business Transformation and HR having held executive positions as Marketing Director, Chief Operating Officer and HR Director. She played a key role in leading the bank through its restructure following the financial crisis in 2007.
She now has a portfolio career and runs a successful Consulting Company, Ashmore Consulting Ltd, specialising in Strategic Marketing, Business Transformation and People Development. She has several Non-Exec roles including South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust, Business Support Board of the LEP, Smarterbuys, Totemic, Sunderland Business Improvement District and NSPCC. She sits on a variety of Advisory Boards across a range of sectors including Housing, Economic Development, Innovation and Financial Services.
Professor of Strategic Marketing Management, Associate Dean of Business and Engagement
Fraser has a proven leadership and management record, based on combining business acumen and academic experience, that has enabled him to engage with enterprise, students, academics and global stakeholders and hold roles in important leadership and management positions throughout his career. An international consultant, he has assisted over 250 businesses in more than 60 countries to implement successful start-up, international business expansion, marketing, branding and new product/service introduction strategies in industry sectors that vary from education to renewable energy, engineering, food and graphene. Fraser has worked with businesses that range from SMEs to multinationals as well as organisations such as the World Bank, USDA and EU as well as businesses including Nestle, Royal Numico, and the Bank of Montana. Since returning to academia as Professor of Enterprise in 2009, Fraser has demonstrated a substantial and sustained record of research excellence and achievements and been awarded funding from prestigious research councils such as the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (ESPRC), Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and working with industry partners including Thomas Swan, Parker Hannifin, Renown Engineering, Modrec, R3 Graphics, TASS, Sage, UKTI, Nexus, Greggs, Northumbria Police and Sage.
He is part of a leadership team that has empowered Newcastle Business School to win the Time Higher Education Business School of the Year Award in 2015. Fraser has an ability to excel in innovative pedagogy, and has a sustained record of research supervision success (9 PhD/DBA students supervised to completion). He has been awarded best paper in several conference tracks, is recognised internationally for his business expertise, and acted as PI for 6 KTP projects. The 2014 REF Impact Case Study he authored was ranked as “world leading” or “internationally recognised” and played a significant role in ranking NBS as 3rd best in terms of impact performance across all units of assessment at Northumbria University.
As chair and host of the Academy of Marketing annual conference (July 2016), Fraser is building international esteem for Northumbria University. He is currently involved with business development and research in France, Hong Kong, Australia, Saudi Arabia and New Zealand, is a frequent keynote speaker, and is an invited advisory member for several international research events. Over the last 6 years Fraser has been the faculty’s leading generator of RGCI (Research Grant and Consulting Income).
Fraser has published over 150 journal articles, book chapters, referred conference papers or commissioned reports and is co-author of what is currently the most down-loaded paper in the Journal of Travel Research (ABS Listing 4).

Graham’s career background initially gave him experience in the textile and clothing industry from management trainee to IT Operations Shift Manager, and then to some thirteen years in BBC Television and Radio, including a large proportion of that time spent in senior managerial roles at Television Centre and Television Out-side Broadcasts in London. Head hunted into the IT sector as European Product Marketing Manager, Graham managed five European countries and worked closely with Hewlett Packard (Europe) and many of the major graphics equipment manufacturers. Head hunted again, Graham moved north to Leeds and Yorkshire, as Group Sales and Marketing Director once again in the IT manufacture and distribution joining the private business with a turnover of £250K per annum, and when the owner decided to return to the business in 1991 announcing an annual Turnover of £25.6m.
For most of the past eighteen years Graham has been employed both in further and higher education, including a two year secondment developing and delivering business and marketing education in an Arts College to gradate fashion and textile designers. Graham progressed from lecturer, to senior lecturer and Curriculum Manager, in further and higher education. In recent years , Graham has been appointed Chief Examiner, for marketing, consumer behaviour and international marketing for both domestic and international qualifications, and between 2013 and 2015 was the visiting Dean and Director of Academic Studies for a new-build Post 18 college on the Island of Malta working with both Maltese government, and European Union leader and education bodies.
Since 2006, Graham has run his own successful sales, marketing and management training business Yorkshire Sales and Marketing Developments. Graham is currently Director of Education for the Society of Sales and Sales Management, Non-Executive Director/Trustee for the Northern College of Acupuncture and Alternative Medicine, and Non-Executive Director/Trustee for the Manchester Publicity Association-Educational Trust, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Yorkshire Regional Board
Graham is mature, and highly experienced, having worked through his life from the factory floor to the board room. He possesses the background, to address, and master business situations both strategically tactically and practically, arriving at decisions where reflections upon all aspects have been considered, including the processes and the people involved. His background in sales, marketing, and management both in the United Kingdom and Internationally has enabled him to advise businesses and train personnel, and equally speak and present on a range of sales, marketing and management related subjects areas.
Sarah is a Lecturer in Marketing at Manchester Metropolitan University. She has successfully managed MMU’s Agency Life programme for 3 years, allowing students to develop employability skills in real work settings early in their courses. She teaches on a number of marketing courses and is currently reading for a PhD on the use of nostalgia as a communications tool in contemporary marketing.
Dawn is a Chartered Marketer, Fellow of CIM and past Chair of CIM North West. She is a Director at The Insight Magicians working with clients to maximise the use of data and research to deliver true business benefit. Drawing on broad experience in marketing, IT and commerce, she is well placed to provide value to a wide range of projects. Clients include B2B, B2C and academia, and range in size from start-ups and micro businesses to multinationals. Projects include strategic planning, marketing consultancy, insight development, research (primary and secondary), data mining and bespoke management training for productivity. Dawn is currently doing research into Big Data at Alliance Manchester Business School as a DBA Researcher.
Sally Steadman is a marketing and external relations specialist providing innovative and creative solutions to providers of further and higher education. Currently working for one of the leading and largest land-based colleges in the UK, Sally offers her expertise in creating and promoting bespoke vocational programmes for European students, developing funding initiatives and partnership development across a number of sectors and industries to support the colleges ambitious growth plans.
Sally has a strong background in marketing, skills and business development. She spent several years working in the area of business advice and support for small and medium sized businesses before moving into the education sector. Additionally, she represents the CIM at regional level as Chair of the Yorkshire & Humber Board, is the Vice President of Europea UK, an association of land-based colleges from across Europe developing vocational excellence and is Deputy Chair, fundraiser and case worker for the Farming Community Network, a charity that supports farming families.
