Marketers gloomy

The Chartered Institute of Marketing’s latest Marketing Trends Survey (Autumn 2008) reveals that marketers are gloomier than ever about the UK’s economic outlook. The survey, completed for The Institute by Ipsos MORI, reveals that 73 per cent of marketers believe the UK will be in recession in 2009, and 70 per cent believe conditions for the UK economy will worsen in the year ahead – the highest figure since the survey began, and up 30 per cent on this time last year. However, 11 per cent of marketers remain optimistic that the UK economy will improve in the next 12 months.
