Innovation

Do incremental or radical innovations deliver the best results?

Innovation can take many forms: new products or services, new business processes or new manufacturing processes, for example. In the field of product development, recent trends in manufacturing suggest an emphasis on more flexible processes that are faster and less formal.

However, the constant dilemma is whether to focus on small improvements, which achieve immediate growth but diminishing returns, or to implement more radical, market-shaping innovations that have long-term value but no instant impact. Our agenda paper The creative dilemma – successful innovation in fast-changing markets considers this conundrum.

Managing innovation well is as critical as the idea itself. Our comprehensive Innovation presentation looks at good and bad practice in innovation and examines the innovation mindset.
