The Pitch is a nationwide marketing competition for students, designed to recognise and reward the marketing talent of the future. In teams of two or three, you have to tackle a marketing challenge set by student travel company – StudentUniverse. Pitch it to real industry leaders and if you impress our panel, you will be in the running for an array of career-accelerating prizes.

Who can enter?

Second and third year students at UK universities studying a marketing degree or business degree with a marketing module.

Why should your students take part?

By encouraging your students to take part in this year’s Pitch competition you are giving them the chance to win an array of prizes as well as the opportunity to boost their CVs, network with some of the biggest names in marketing and gain real-life pitching experience.

The Challenge

In North America, StudentUniverse is the number one choice for student and youth travel; having now launched into the UK, what marketing plan would you undertake to achieve similar success in this market.

How to enter

If you want your university to be involved in The Pitch 2017, register your details below and you’ll receive a toolkit which includes the challenge brief and promotional materials so that you can encourage your students to get involved.

In order for students to enter, they must enter a team of two or three. Each member of the team needs to be a second or third year student at a UK university studying a marketing related degree.

They will need to register their team by 16 December 2016 in order to receive the competition materials, which will outline what needs to be included in the 2500 word marketing plan.

The sooner they register, the more time they will have. The final submission deadline for the marketing plan is 29 January 2017.

If the team make it through to the final 12, they will be invited to a live judging final which will be held on 09 March 2017, where they will have to present their plan to our panel of judges.

Terms and conditions apply.

What's in it for universities

The university who goes above and beyond getting their students engaged with The Pitch competition will be rewarded with ‘The best student engagement award’ at our Marketing Excellence Awards. This goes further than just getting them to enter, it’s about supporting your students and helping them produce high quality entries.

Be sure to track all of your promotion of the competition as well as any extra support given because you’ll need to produce a small case study which showcases what you’ve done, along with supporting evidence.
