CPD & Learning

Maintain your professional standing through continuing development and structured learning.

Professional development at CIM

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is about enhancing your skills and knowledge to stay current and effective as a marketer. It’s relevant at every stage of your career – whether you're new to marketing or a seasoned expert keeping pace with a fast-moving industry.

Our Chartered CPD Programme is open to all CIM members and provides a structured, focused way to keep learning as your career progresses. It benchmarks your skills against our Global Professional Marketing Framework, enables you to identify knowledge gaps through our skills analysis tool, and provides access to relevant learning activities.

Simply record all your learning and development activity – whether through CIM, another organisation, or self-directed – over the membership year. On completion, you'll receive a digital CPD certificate as proof of your commitment to continuous development. Your CPD journey can lead to Chartered Marketer status – the ultimate mark of an experienced and qualified marketer.

Getting started

To start recording CPD, you must be a CIM member. There are memberships to suit each stage of your career.

Already an Affiliate or Associate?

You’re required to complete at least 35 credits of CPD activity each year. From workplace learning to training and attending conferences, a wide range of activities count – and you're likely doing many already.

Visit MyCIM and on the homepage click the CPD tile to access the CPD portal.

Already a Member or a Fellow?

You'll need to provide at least four reflective statements regarding your CPD activities, aligned to our Global Professional Marketing Framework.
