Overview

Develop the strategic leadership skills needed to lead marketing change, respond to contemporary business challenges and create practical impact within your organisation.

The CIM Marketing Leadership Programme has been developed through global, employer-led research to reflect the skills and competencies needed by senior marketing professionals. It is designed for experienced marketers who want to build confidence, lead change and apply strategic marketing leadership in a dynamic organisational environment.

This programme is designed for experienced marketers working at strategic marketing or management level.

It may be right for you if you:

  • Are currently a Marketing Manager or Head of Marketing
  • Aspire to move into a board-level or senior leadership role
  • Run your own business and want to grow it strategically
  • Work as a consultant and want professional recognition and status
  • Want to strengthen your ability to lead change and respond to complex marketing challenges

The programme is typically aimed at candidates with senior marketing experience who may already be managing teams, leading organisational change or influencing strategic business decisions.

Entry depends on the relevance and currency of your qualifications and experience.

You’ll need one or more of the following:

  • A CIM Level 6 marketing qualification
  • CIM Advanced Certificate in Marketing
  • CIM Digital Diploma in Professional Marketing
  • A business or marketing bachelor’s or master’s degree, or equivalent qualification, where at least half of the credits come from marketing modules

You’ll also need a minimum of five years’ experience working at Senior Marketing Management level.

If English is not your first language, you’ll usually need an IELTS Academic score of 6.5, with at least 6.0 in each component, a Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English at grade B or above, or an accepted equivalent achieved within the previous two years.

The total cost of your qualification is made up of:

  • Tuition fees, paid to your chosen Accredited Study Centre
  • CIM membership, which starts from £65 per year
  • CIM assessment fees

The current assessment fees for the Level 7 Marketing Leadership Programme are £870 at all rates. This figure is based on successful completion at the first attempt. Resits require additional fees.

Specialist Managing Business Growth Explore customer dynamics, organisational characteristics and market positioning to support strategic business growth.
Specialist Sustainable Transformation in Marketing Examine the role marketing plays in helping organisations balance sustainability commitments with commercial needs.

To achieve the CIM Marketing Leadership Programme, you must complete Contemporary Challenges and Leading Change, then choose one elective module.

Each module is worth 20 credits and can also be achieved as a standalone Level 7 Award. The full programme totals 60 credits, with approximately 200 hours of learning per module.
