Develop the strategic marketing knowledge and senior-level decision-making skills needed to lead marketing activity in complex, international environments.

Designed for experienced marketers and senior business professionals, these Level 7 postgraduate qualifications help you build advanced capability across global marketing strategy, corporate digital communications, transformation and entrepreneurial change. You’ll develop the ability to evaluate strategic options, make informed recommendations and contribute to organisational planning and change at a senior level.

This qualification is designed for experienced marketers working at senior level who want to move into, or strengthen their capability in, strategic management roles.

It may be right for you if you:

  • Work in a senior marketing or business role
  • Want to develop strategic marketing management expertise
  • Need to make or influence marketing decisions across global markets
  • Want to strengthen your corporate digital communications capability
  • Are looking to specialise in either sustainable transformation or entrepreneurial change

The qualification is aimed at professional marketers working at senior level who want to progress their marketing career and add value to their organisation across global markets.

Entry is based on the relevance and currency of your qualifications and experience.

You’ll usually need one or more of the following:

  • CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing, either the 2003 or 2009 syllabus
  • CIM Advanced Certificate in Marketing
  • CIM Digital Diploma in Professional Marketing
  • A business or marketing bachelor’s or master’s degree, or equivalent qualification, where at least half of the credits are from marketing modules

You’ll also normally need around three years’ experience at Senior Marketing Management level, with the ability to evidence that you can meet the learning outcomes for the CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing if required.

If English is not your first language, you’ll usually need an IELTS Academic score of 6.5, with at least 6.0 in each component, a Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English at grade B or above, or an accepted equivalent achieved within the previous two years.

The total cost of your qualification is made up of:

  • Tuition fees, paid to your chosen Accredited Study Centre
  • CIM membership, which starts from £65 per year
  • CIM assessment fees

The current assessment fees for the Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma are £630 at the Global Standard and Developing Markets rate, or £510 at the Emerging Markets rate. These figures are based on passing all modules at the first attempt. Resits require additional fees.

Mandatory Global Marketing Decisions Undertake a strategic audit of a global organisation, evaluate its capability and capacity, and make recommendations using financial and risk assessment models.
Mandatory Corporate Digital Communications Critically appraise corporate brand and reputation, and recommend digital channels and tools to support corporate positioning and brand equity.
Specialist Sustainable Transformation in Global Marketing Explore how organisations can respond to sustainability challenges and drive transformation through responsible global marketing strategy.
Specialist Creating Entrepreneurial Change Develop the ability to support entrepreneurial thinking, innovation and strategic change within organisations.

To achieve either Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma, you must complete Global Marketing Decisions and Corporate Digital Communications, then choose one elective module.

Choose Sustainable Transformation in Global Marketing to achieve the Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Global Marketing.

Choose Creating Entrepreneurial Change to achieve the Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Marketing.

Each module is worth 20 credits, with approximately 200 hours total qualification time per module. The full diploma is therefore 60 credits and approximately 600 hours total qualification time.
