    Travel update: Tube work closures

We have been informed that there will be some tube closures due to planned work on Saturday 11 November, which may affect your travel to Graduation.

Find out how this may affect your journey and view live status updates by clicking here.

We recommend Graduates plan their journey in advance using TFL's route planner, which will help find an alternate route.

    Programme

Please complete steps 1-7 below covering registration, robe collection and photography before 12:00 – late arrivals will not be able to take part in the ceremony.

Step 1: Registration by surname - Library

    10:00-10:30 A-F
    10:30-11:00 G-O
    11:00-11:30 P-Z

In the case of safety of all of our staff and fellow graduates, please ensure you only arrive during the times above, in accordance with your surname.

On arrival at the venue, please make your way up the short set of stairs where you will be guided to registration. Please ensure you follow the one-way system in place and direct yourself to the desk where registration will take place in an alphabetical method by surname. Please have your confirmation email ready to show the registration desk where you will be given:

    • Your registration ticket which will state your allocated seat number for the ceremony. Please keep this ticket with you throughout the event and ensure you sit in the seat allocated – this is essential so that your name is called out at the correct time.

    • Your guests will be seated in a different area to graduates. Please note there are no specific seat numbers for guests.

    • Your Graduation Ceremony brochure.

Step 2: Robe collection – Aldersgate

Please collect your robe from Ede & Ravenscroft, which is located on the lower ground floor. There will a one-way system to guide you to this area. We ask that graduates only enter the robing area itself to avoid any high traffic.

    Step 3: Photography – Aldersgate

After collecting your robe, if you would like an official photograph, proceed with your guests to Ede & Ravenscroft photographer which is located next to robing.

Step 4: Relax with peers – Lecture Hall

Once you have completed your robing and photography, please make your way back up the stairs to our allocated waiting area where you can meet your peers and purchase any merchandise to remember your special day.

12:00-12:15 Step 5: Seated in the Great Hall – first floor

    • The Great Hall doors open at 12:00. Please make your way to the hall on the first floor for seating and have your ticket ready to show the stewards. You will be guided to your allocated seat and your guests to the relevant area.

    • Ensure that your seat number matches the number on your ticket.

    • Please be seated by 12:15 – you are required to wear your robe and mortarboard hat throughout the Graduation Ceremony.

12:30-13:30 Step 6: Graduation Ceremony starts

    • You must remain in the Great Hall until the ceremony ends. Expected finishing time is between 13:30 and 14:00.

    • Depending on the qualification you have passed, in surname alphabetical order, the stewards will ask you to create a queue in preparation for you being called onto the stage. You will then need to return to your allocated seat.

    Step 7: Robe return

All hired robes must be returned to Ede & Ravenscroft by 15:00.

    Step 8: Close

We hope you will have enjoyed your Graduation Ceremony and wish you all the best for your future marketing career.

    FAQs

Can CIM advise me on international travel into the UK and visa applications?

In light of COVID-19 with questions arising around international travel, quarantining, vaccinations, and all matters relating to the pandemic, please refer to the United Kingdom border control website here. CIM is not able to offer advice, provide documentation or answer questions relating to these matters.

Additionally, visa applications are the responsibility of the attendee. CIM is strictly unable to provide funding, visa letters, written documentation, or any involvement in applications.

Are children allowed to attend the ceremony?

If you wish to bring children to the ceremony, all children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children 8 years and above will need to have a guest ticket purchased for them. Separate tickets will need to be purchased for children if they are younger than 8 years of age and are unable to sit on their accompanying adult’s lap.

Can I cancel my guest ticket?

Guest tickets are non-refundable three weeks prior to the event. The last day for refunds is 20 October 2023. Refund requests should be made to events.organiser@cim.co.uk.

Graduates who deferred their ceremony space from 2022 or previous years and who are no longer able to attend the 2023 ceremony, or guests of those graduating, will not be entitled to a refund for any tickets bought as stated by terms and conditions agreed during the original booking process.

Who should I contact about special requirements?

If you or your guests have any special requirements, you should inform the Graduation team of these during the booking process. Please note that graduates normally ascend and descend the stage via a short set of steps. If this is problematic, please email us at events.organiser@cim.co.uk.

Please note that the venue is fully accessible.

What shall I do about my gown and photography?

You will be able to purchase the hire of your gown and photography directly with Ede & Ravenscroft once you receive your Graduation Ceremony invitation via email. Further information on how to do this can be found in the ‘Other’ section.

Academic dress is imperative if you are a graduate. Without a gown, you will not be permitted into the auditorium to take part in your graduation.

Mortar boards should be worn throughout the ceremony. CIM will not be liable for any injuries incurred when mortar boards are thrown in the air, so please be mindful if you wish to participate in hat throwing.

Photography is optional and can be purchased in advance of the Ceremony, or on the day itself.

The 2023 Graduation Ceremony will take place at Central Hall Westminster. The full address can be found below:

    Storey’s Gate
    London

What time is the Graduation Ceremony?

Timings will be announced in October 2023. This is because it will be determined by how many graduates we have attending and how much registration time is required. You will receive an email on timings once bookings close.

Will I receive my diploma at the Graduation Ceremony?

Please note that you will not receive your diploma at Graduation – this will be issued to you digitally eight weeks after you have received the results of your final assessment.
