    PRESS RELEASE

CIM adds backing to BAME2020 ‘No Turning Back’ programme

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) announced today that it is proud to support ‘No Turning Back’ a new powerful and action orientated diversity and inclusion programme.

Launched in August 2020 by the BAME2020 movement for the marketing and communications industry, ‘No Turning Back’ is a programme designed to help organisations create change and take advantage of an inclusive culture.

Delivered by Brands with Values and f1 Recruitment, ’No Turning Back’ focuses on changing the business landscape for good. The programme requires two measurable actions for organisations that are serious about Inclusion and Diversity: ‘inclusive values’ and ‘inclusive recruitment’.

Amanda Fone, Co-founder BAME2020 says: “Statistics suggest that 49% of the population in Outer London will be non-White by 2041. We need to employ far more people representing this group and create the right messages that marketing and communications is a rewarding career with a baked in democratic attitude towards promoting all talent. Our industry is under pressure to be truly representative.”

Launched in 2016 BAME2020 has two simple and clear objectives to inspire action inside the UK PR, communications, marketing & sports marketing sector to work towards:

    • Attraction – 20% of the total young talent that enters our industry each year to come from BAME backgrounds
    • Retention – for this talent stays in our sector until 20% of leadership roles are represented by BAME talent

Adrian Walcott, co-founder BAME2020: “The business case for inclusive and diverse workforces strengthens year-on-year. Organisations that are inclusive enjoy higher job satisfaction amongst employees, lower staff turnover and higher productivity.”

No Turning Back companies will be able to use the ‘No Turning Back logo’ on all their recruitment activity, externally and internally.
