6:00 PM - London
This is the second in a series of events being held at the University of Westminster, Marylebone Campus by the newly formed CIM/Westminster Business School marketing club.
The aim is to give practising marketers an opportunity to take some time-out, challenge thinking, learn new skills and share experiences with the next generation of marketing talent.
We look at the world of business and marketing measurement - the things you need to know to make your marketing (and your business) a success. We’ll prove that metrics can be are interesting, informative and relevant … and not at all scary.
Why bother measuring things, because didn't the best marketers always say that ‘you just know when something's working?’. Do we really think that the Kardashians measure outputs, inputs and throughputs?
Rest assured: there are no equations in the workshop and there are remarkably few statistics (because research* shows that 97.4% of introductory workshops go better without them). But there are, hopefully, some interesting thoughts about how modern businesses and modern business marketing relies on all of us to keep on top of what's happening in real (or near-real) time.
*The 'research' is entirely fictitious - but isn't it interesting how we all notice and respond to numbers?
Speaker:
Phil Jarman has 25 years marketing and communications experience and an MA in Marketing from Kingston University Business School. He has been lecturing on undergraduate, post-graduate and professional marketing, communications and business-related topics since 2010.
He began working in the defence and industrial sectors as a researcher and writer before moving to mainstream communications and marketing. The majority of his professional career has been in external consultancy through which he has worked for approximately 30 B2C and B2B organisations ranging from internet start-ups to global brands.
His experience combines practical, ‘hands-on’ multi-disciplinary marketing with scalable strategic planning – delivering skills that are useful and relevant both in the day-to-day workplace and in shaping the future growth of products, brands and organisations.
CPD category: Monitoring and measuring success
Duration: 1.5 hours
Registration and networking is from 18:00, the event starts at 18:30 and finishes at 21:00. If you are a non-EU resident, please contact the Regional Events team to make your booking.
