Video is a key communication tool for modern marketers. The BFI and CIM) have partnered on a range of courses to enhance filmmaking skills and knowledge.

In this practical two-day course, you will learn how to capture high quality shots using your smartphone, iPad or DSLR camera and edit them in Adobe Premiere Pro. The course director will begin by highlighting examples of video marketing such as thought leadership, social proofs and interviews to get you thinking about how video could be used strategically in your role or business.

You will be provided with raw footage and audio professionally captured by the BFI and asked to work with the rushes and practice editing it into a compelling marketing video. Participants will be provided access to Adobe Premiere Pro for the duration of the course. The course comprises three parts:

  1. Filmmaking pre-production strategy and planning
  2. Filmmaking production – capturing high quality smartphone or DSLR video
  3. Filmmaking post-production – using the Adobe Premiere interface, creating edits, adding effects, transitions and titles to enhance video.

As part of the onboarding process, delegates will complete a short questionnaire to help their tutor understand their existing experience and goals for the course.

This course is taught using Adobe Premiere, as this is professional grade software. If you do not have a license, you can register for a free 30 day trial, or if you've already used the free trial, you can purchase a license via Adobe. All of the demos will be focused on Adobe Premiere and the teacher cannot guarantee that there will be time to support with other editing software.

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for anyone who wants to gain a greater understanding of  how and why video content is effective in a marketing context, and would like practical experience and guidance on starting to capture and edit their own footage. Perhaps you would like to hone your self-taught Adobe Premiere skills.
