    Overview

British Film Institute Video Editing Essentials for Marketers training courseCourse part of the CIM Affiliate Programme - with British Film Institute (BFI)

As the UK's lead organisation for film and the moving image, The BFI have developed a specialist course designed to help marketers shoot high quality videos on smartphones.

In this practical two day course, we’ll teach you how to shoot and edit professional video using your smartphone or tablet.

Receiving verbal feedback from our expert film educator, you’ll learn how to improve your videos through creating visual storyboards, practicing different shot types and experimenting with basic editing techniques and effects.

In a mixture of group and individual activities, you’ll plan, shoot and edit your own ideas and work with footage and audio professionally captured by the BFI. By the end of the course, we’re hoping you walk away feeling more confident and equipped with tips and tricks to continue your filmmaking journey.

After the course, you may decide to explore creating your own smartphone content, and/or you may find your new knowledge helpful when commissioning external agencies.

Just a quick note - we recommend you use editing software Adobe Premiere Pro during the course, as this is what the demos will be focused on. If you are unable to arrange access via a license or free trial, don't worry, we'll include information on an alternative free programme Lightworks in the welcome letter.

    Who should attend?

This course is suitable for anyone who wants to gain a greater understanding of  how and why video content is effective in a marketing context, and would like practical experience and guidance on starting to capture and edit their own footage.
